About Counselling

Life can be very difficult at times and we don’t always feel comfortable about talking about what is effecting us.

Counselling is known as a ‘talking therapy’ where people can feel safe to explore the difficulties they are experiencing, and bring about changes for the better. The difficulties we go through as human beings, for example bereavement, family or relationship issues,  can cause worries, anxieties, stress, depression and anger.

Sometimes our issues may come from childhood, which have brought issues in your adult life. Or they may come from traumatic experiences or accidents.

If you will allow me to help you, I can help you to find answers, explore your choices and set goals to help you to cope with and find ways to help you through your problems.

My private run practise is my real passion. I am deeply compassionate about helping others. You will find me very caring and I will treat whatever you bring to your sessions with total confidentiality and the deepest respect, bringing a personal warmth to your sessions.

Iwill suggest and guide you through new coping strategies that will help improve your life, and gain a better understanding of yourself.

The main types of Models use in counselling sessions are:

  • Person Client Centred Therapy
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
  • Psychodynamic Therapy or Psychoanalysis.

Person or Client Centred is where counselling can help you to gain full awareness, of how the influences and your upbringing, has shaped who you are today and how well you deal with things. This type of counselling assists you to learn and understand, how negative responses to life events can have a negative affect on your overall well-being. It is based on the belief that it is not life events that cause problems, but how we experience those life events. Which relates to how we feel about ourselves, and the affect it has on our self-esteem self worth and confidence. The outcome of this therapy should bring acceptance of both the negative and positive aspects of yourself.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy helps you to manage your problems by looking and possibly changing the way you think and behave. It shows you the identity of negative thoughts and beliefs, and assists you to then recognise a detrimental negative thought. It will help you to change your thinking pattern, which is very beneficial to those who suffer with Anxiety Depression and OCD.

Psychodynamic Therapy or Psychoanalysis is a therapeutic process which works with your unconscious mind, aiming to bring the unconscious into conscious awareness. It can help you to understand and resolve problems by increasing awareness of your ‘inner world’ and its influence over relationships both past and present. It differs from most other therapies in aiming for deep seated change in personality and emotional development.
